Description:
This project was completed as part of the New Media Production and Design Capstone class. In it, students are put into groups and given the instruction to research and find a solution to a problem. My team was inspired by the suggestion of our instructor to pursue animal adoption for our project.
During this project, we learned what it takes to adopt animals and what it takes to shelter animals. We also learned the difficulty of having animals get adopted. It is a complicated process that involves interviews of the family and interactions between them and the animal to make sure they are a good fit for each other. The entire process can be intimidating to potential adopters and can be stressful for the animals.
To that end, we set out to design a prototype application that aims to address some of the concerns of adoption centers and families. We decided it would be best for users to input their information and receive approval once so that they don’t need to go through the approval process multiple times. We also decided to include fields to allow for easy additions of animals to the system, and easy filtering when searching for an animal.
